bringing down the house

During the first few weeks of renovation, to those with an untrained eye, it seemed that all Pete the Contractor, his brother and the Big Guy were doing was moving their tools around, covering themselves in sawdust and listening to country music while they ate take-out from Drougies.

SO not the case.

As a highly-trained Project Manager, I can tell you that there was so much “behind the scenes” work being done.

This is a long-winded way of saying: sorry I haven’t been posting pictures. But you really wouldn’t have been able to see a difference.

Weeks 3 and 4 of demo, however…WOW.

Check it:

carpenter humor

the front of the house. the termite damage was SO extensive...

...that we removed the ENTIRE FRONT OF THE HOUSE.

Termite legacy.

Quote from the exterminator: "I haven't seen termite damage like this in a LOOOONG time." Well, that's because we don't half-ass anything.

Rebuilding the front of our house and framing out the biggest front window in America. (You're welcome, Vito)

walls are over-rated

wait until Vito sees his new window seat!

the front of the house is back up!

our termite friends got to the basement, too. more framing to replace!

an early-morning visit from the Project Manager to keep the workers on their toes.

CSN online stores asks me to do reviews after providing me with free gift certificate codes to use on their website multiple times throughout the year. I thought with your renovation you might be interested in free stuff for your house. The contact person told me to pass along her email to anyone that might be interested. Let me know if you are and I’ll get it to ya.
